|| Hello Wonderful Women!|
Email from: [email protected]
I don't really know who decides these things, but March 8th is International Women's Day. Code Pink has decided to use this day to make a clear statement to the world that we, as women, are saying NO to this war - and by extension to all war. They are working to organize rallies, vigils and other events around the world on this day. I hear there will be a large event in DC - and then dozens of others all across the country.
At mothersuniting we thought - do we go to Washington or do we do something locally? After all, Cindy Sheehan will be with the group in Washington. After much consideration we decided that making a public statement in our community, within our network of relationships was much more powerful - and much more important...
This is where women live in influence - in their relationships and so - with all our hearts we are asking you to join us. We will gather at Keene State College at 5:00 pm to pick up a group of young women, we will march up main street singing and chanting and we will gather at the gazebo.
We will bring some props. There will be a couple of speakers, there will be a microphone for any who come prepared to speak or are moved in the moment to share their heart, and there will be a silent, candlelight vigil and a closing song. I am guessing we will be done by 6:30. We ask that you bring a candle, and we invite you to wear some pink (ok - lots of pink if you have it) - and if you can - bring a sign (more pink?) that captures your heart re: ending this war/all war. As many of us who can will go out to dinner afterwards, downtown, to keep the energy going. Men sporting pink will be so very welcome :).
As I get ready to send this and look over the email list - I see each of your names and I am so grateful to know you, and to have felt your energy over the past couple of years as mothersuniting has worked to help create a nonviolent and just world for ALL children. I am asking that each of you join us on the 8th. Let this community see the commitment of women. Let us come forth publicly and let our loved ones, our neighbors, our colleagues know what we know in our hearts. Let us stand together.
Please forward this invitation to any and all. This time we would like to hear that people got multiple copies of an email - and please think of personally inviting a friend who might not otherwise hear of this event.
with much love,
Sue and the team at mothersuniting
ps. If you think you might want to go to dinner afterwards - let us know and we will make a bunch of reservations in restaurants downtown - how cool would it be to have 100 of us, in small groups, eating and talking afterwards???
