“If a man has an apartment stacked to the ceiling with newspapers we call him crazy. If a woman has a trailer house full of cats we call her nuts. But when people pathologically hoard so much cash that they impoverish the entire nation, we put them on the cover of Fortune magazine and pretend that they are role models.”

Rants: Bail-Out: NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! What part don’t they understand??

PoliticsKeep up the pressure!

By Sherlyn Meinz

I just don’t get it -- the people give a great big “No” to the bail-out, and it did get temporarily voted down by the House – but only to come back to haunt us with changes supposed to placate us into accepting it. The Senate votes tonight!

The market went down - then back up– without their bail-out! The recent individual corporate bail-outs only made things worse, seeming only to pave the way to push us into this massive rip-off of the American people. It is admitted in almost all circles, that there are no guarantees. In fact, many economists have stated that the bail-out is not needed. Nonetheless, our elected representatives are pushing hard for another huge transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich. These corporations and their executives are people who should be investigated, prosecuted and forced to return the huge sums they skimmed off the top of these companies before skipping out/allowing the companies to fail at the people of the United States and world’s expense.

Interesting that right after I heard it announced that the most recent meltdown was going to hurt the rich, suddenly we needed a massive bail-out! ...

Meanwhile this same banking/lending community lobbied hard to make it almost impossible for an individual to declare bankruptcy (even when no greed was involved – maybe just exorbitant health expenses or loss of a job). And there was NEVER any question of bailing out individuals. So why should the already rich be bailed out??

NO, NO, NO – the pot can’t be sweetened enough to make it okay! It is not okay! If these companies made bad decisions, let them deal with the consequences just like people have to do. They should not be rewarded for it! There was NO money for health insurance, NO money for proper care of our veterans sent into an illegal war, NO money for rebuilding this country’s crumbling infrastructure, NO money for green energy to reduce dependence on foreign oil – even though many jobs could have been created. In the face of this, as far as I am concerned, there is NO money for Wall Street! Bush couldn’t give them our Social Security – so instead he gives them a last minute $700 billion gift from the backs of the American people?!?!?
NO WAY!!!!

Please, please – keep up the pressure – Call and email your Senators and Representatives and make “No” clear once again. No Bail Out – period – end of discussion. I am tired of the lies, the constant and unending fear-mongering, the games, the manipulations – how about you?? NO MORE!

Note: THE SENATE PASSED IT, IGNORING THE VERY CLEAR WISHES OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE - THE BILL GOES BACK TO THE HOUSE FOR A VOTE FRIDAY AFTERNOON - PLEASE KEEP UP THE CALLS AND EMAILS! DON'T LET OUR COUNTRY GET RAILROADED INTO THIS!

With over 100 people (PER MINUTE) logging on to the site you furnished, I'd say America is speaking out AGAIN! ... But who will the senators listen to? ... The people who really do own this country or the special interests who have bought it out from underneath us.

I just read an article (TradingMarkets.com) which states: Democratic Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen said she had concerns about the bailout plan, and wasn't ready to say whether she would vote for it.

Not ready to say?

Is that who New Hampshire voters want "working" for them in the US Senate? Someone who refuses to state her position on perhaps the biggest issue facing us today?

I must say I've been yelling at the t.v. for a week every time one of our supposed representatives tries to sugar-coat this total rip-off! There isn't enough sugar (or even Vermont maple syrup) anywhere to make this palatable!
