He said, "Americans are asking, why do they hate us? . They hate our freedoms -- our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other."

But does he speak the truth? Is he really telling us what the perpetrators were thinking? And is he suggesting that much of the world is in agreement with this concept? Welcome to the Toeg Effect. Today we discuss a fundamental gauge of the distribution of wealth in modern society, we discover the history and evolution of this measurement and its use in tracking the health of all nations.

This factor, known as the GINI Coefficient, is used to describe the distribution of wealth of a given country. It is a complicated ratio derived from the Lorenz Curve and first discovered in 1912 by Corado Gini an Italian Statistician. It starts with the premise that if everyone earned exactly the same amount of money, the coefficient would be given the arbitrary value of zero. In other words, a janitor and the CEO of the largest company in the country would earn exactly the same salary. Likewise, the arbitrary value of one hundred would be given to a society where only one person earns the entire income of the nation. We can plainly see that all nations lie somewhere in between these two values. Similarly, we can see that the closer to zero the score, the greater the spread of wealth in the target country.

In other words, the GINI Coefficient gives us an idea of how evenly distributed is the wealth of any nation....

Criminalizing sex, be it against prostitution, homosexuality, or sexual acts and toys, is one of the most glaring examples of the abuse of government power. There should be no regulations against consensual adult sexuality. But still such laws stay on the books, while candidates waffle between trying to appear non-condemnatory while at the same time trying to keep approval of those who value religiosity above constitutionality.

It's time we the people require our state government and federal government to get out of our bedrooms. Minding their own business should be a daunting enough task for them...that is if they were doing the job we elected to them for to begin with.

Many politicians have been and are part of enacting legislation forcing the American people to abide by Judo-Christian values, and while many other politicians have given lip service to sexual equality, the judgmentality pervades both parties. Letís not forget it was under Democrats that DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) was signed and the discriminatory military policy of ďDonít Ask Donít TellĒ was enacted, as well as the continual rubberstamping of state laws/amendments. Our nation would not still be in this situation if most politicians from either major party really respected your Constitutional rights.

Your right to sexual privacy isnít a partisan issue...

Today we discuss the greatest misnomer in modern times. Today we take a look at a lie that has been perpetuated by everyone around the world and especially here in the United States.

According to dictionary.com, war is defined as, "a conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations or between parties within a nation." And they give an example, "The two nations were at war with each other." Indeed, while we can have a war of words or a play a card game called, "War," each term has a distinct meaning. A war of words is merely a verbal conflict between several contestants, and a card game is a card game. But when it comes to nations, the word "war" has a separate meaning.

For war to have any meaning at a nationwide level, the parity must be logical. Therefore, a war between, say, England and France would be logical. World Wars I and II were fought between many nations and, though they didn't fight in every region of the globe, they most definitely affected every region of the globe. Throughout history, wars have been waged by almost every nation that's ever existed.

But that's just it. Wars were always between nations...

Today we review the fourth power in the US - we embark on a journey through time to the roots that dismantled our societal check on the government and left the US virtually helpless against the subsequent demands of tyrants and madmen who have stood atop the pinnacle of the White House or rode pell-mell through the halls of Congress.

Journalism, according to G.K. Chesterton, "largely consists of saying `Lord Jones is Dead' to people who never knew that Lord Jones was alive.'' But through the ages, it has always been of interest and indeed of great importance, to receive news about local and global events. As news reporting became ever more important in everyday society, the reliability and accuracy of its content became increasingly vital. The local citizen had little chance to actually review each article for precision and so relied on the journalists for completeness and fairness. Whatever was written was taken as the gospel truth and it was up to the reporters, journalists, editors and their management to accurately report current events.

By the end of the 19th Century, the media, mainly in the form of newspapers and weekly magazines, had risen to a level of importance that few could have imagined in prior times...

We all know by now that Gore actually won the vote in Florida, and by default, the presidency in 2000. At the time, the Supreme Court found itself forced to intervene on behalf of their favorite son, George Bush, when the recount in Florida had reduced Bush's lead down to a mere 537 votes. The country was entering its second month of indecision and the Supreme Court felt that if they didn't stop the hemorrhaging, they could wind up with the wrong person in the White House.

The infamous scrub list of 94,000 people who were suspected felons in that state obviously targeted minorities, mostly Blacks, who voted for Gore at a 93% rate. All those votes were never cast and Bush wound up winning by one of the narrowest margins in our history. When the NAACP sued the voting data company, ChoicePoint's DBT, for violating the civil rights of thousands of Florida black citizens, they won their suit. DBT admitted that only 5% of the people listed on the "scrub list" were unqualified to vote. In other words, 89,300 voters on the 2000 scrub list should be re-entered on the Florida election rolls as qualified voters. Florida did not rectify this mistake and reinstate the illegally disqualified voters by the time of the 2002 election, nor were they reinstated for the 2004 election. The fact that Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida, and Katherine Harris, Secretary of State in Florida, were never prosecuted for this heinous crime is part of the Bush II junta's long line of illegal activities...

The US dollar is the de facto monetary unit of the United States. But it is not only the currency used in the US, it is the currency used on American Samoa, British Virgin Islands, Guam, Johnston Island, Palau, Panama Canal Zone, Puerto Rico, as well as other nations around the world. It is the de facto currency used in trading oil. Nearly every transaction around the world occurs when US dollars are exchanged for goods or services from another country, regardless of which two countries are trading.

The reason for this is quite simple. Imagine trying to maintain on hand the currencies of all the different trading partners that any country might have. That would mean maintaining dozens of different currencies of different sizes in order to purchase their goods properly. With the daily fluctuation of each currency, the ability to keep track of the net worth of said nation would immediately become a fiscal nightmare. The world banks long ago figured this out, and long ago agreed to a world standard bearer to be used in nearly all transactions.

Prior to and during most of the 1800s international trade was denominated in terms of currencies that represented weights of gold...

The U.S. opposed the ICC, the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, from the beginning, surprising and disappointing many people. Human rights organizations and social justice groups around the world, and from within the US, were very critical of the U.S. stance given its dominance in world affairs. Letís not forget that this was during the Clinton years.

The U.S. did eventually sign up to the ICC just before the December 2000 deadline to ensure that it would be a State Party that could participate in decision-making about how the Court works. However,

 By May 2002, the Bush Administration "unsigned" the Rome Statute.
 The U.S. threatened to use military force if U.S. nationals were held at the Hague.
 The U.S. continues to pressure many countries to sign agreements not to surrender U.S. citizens to the ICC.

But why would a country, often vocal in the area of human rights, and often amongst the first to promote human rights as a global issue in the past refuse to sign up to an international law and institution designed to protect human rights? ...

It was on September, 11th that South America descended into one of its most violent eras of repression. No, we are not talking about September 11, 2001, but September 11, 1973. Nearly three decades before the fatal disaster in New York and Washington, the US had decided the events of South America for a generation. When democratically elected president Allende took office in Chile, much to the delight of ĺ of the Chilean population, the US immediately started fomenting ways to bring his democratic presidency to an end. The American Central Intelligence Agency had influenced elections in Chile dating back to 1958, but in 1970 the socialist candidate, a physician named Salvador Allende, was elected president.

In his first year, Allende also employed Keynesian measures to hike salaries and wages, thus pumping up the purchasing power of the middle and working classes. This "consumer revolution" benefited 95 percent of the population in the short run because prices were held down and employment went up. Producers responded to rising demand by employing previously underused capacity.

Meanwhile, the United States pursued a two-track policy toward Allende's Chile...

During that time The Panther Program was honored more than any other VPR program, cited for excellence by the International Radio Festival of New York, the Writers Guild of America, and (three times) the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Without warning or explanation, VPR blacklisted the Panthers in 1992 and the blacklist remains in force to this day. The Panthers continued to perform on stage and other radio stations, supported by occasional grants from the Vermont Arts Council.

Welcome to the Toeg Effect. Today we discuss the life and times of the longest serving head of state in the Americas, in the past few centuries.

Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926, and is the current President of Cuba. He attended Catholic schools before graduating from the University of Havana with a degree in law.

At the age of 21, in 1947 Castro joined the Cuban People's Party. He was attracted to this new party's campaign against corruption, injustice, poverty, unemployment and low wages. The Cuban People's Party accused government ministers of taking bribes and running the country for the benefit of the large United States corporations that had factories and offices in Cuba.

In 1952, Fidel Castro became a candidate for Congress for the Cuban People's Party. He was a superb public speaker and soon built up a strong following amongst the young members of the party. The Cuban People's Party was expected to win the election but during the campaign. General Fulgencio Batista, with the support of the armed forces, took control of the country...
